2007 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe

I have no idea what the production numbers are, but I rarely see a Speed Yellow 997 let alone a Speed Yellow 997TT. Whether all of the owners simply refuse to sell or whether there weren’t many produced to begin with (and I suspect it is the latter), opportunities to get one of these brightly colored 997s do not come around often. If you’re a fan, it might be time to pounce.

This is a 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe, located in Miami, with that lovely Speed Yellow exterior and Cocoa leather interior. Cocoa is not an interior color we see all that often either, but it seems even more rare to pair it with an exterior color like Speed Yellow. It’s an atypical contrast and I think I’d have to see it in person to know if I’d like it. I suppose it isn’t too far from the much more traditional pairing of a black interior and that slight change in color might appeal to many. But really this is about the exterior. Yellow cars are very love hate. Count me in the group that loves them!

2007 Porsche 911 GT3

There is something invigorating about a well-kept track car. It’s food for the enthusiast’s soul. I’m operating a little bit on assumptions here. The first, of course, being that this Carrara White 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 has been used on the track. It’s likely a safe assumption given the model and a couple of modifications, but if incorrect it wouldn’t be the first GT3 to avoid a track. The second assumption rests entirely on appearances, but again I think it’s well founded as this GT3 looks in very nice shape inside and out. Everything will need to be checked out, that should be obvious, but what we see is promising. The promises of a Porsche used as its engineers intended and capable of continuing to operate in that manner for years to come.

Fail Friday: 2007 Mercedes-Benz S550

Welcome back to Fail Friday! Today we have a 2007 Mercedes-Benz S550 that you can probably take one guess as to why I am taking a look at it. This first-year W221 has all your standard custom S-Class ”enhancements” with oversized wheels, custom interior, blacked out taillights and headlights, a color change but the biggest thing that sets this S550 apart: suicide doors. In today’s world, the full-size suicide door is only reserved for various Rolls-Royce models, but thanks to some actually really nice work, you can have them on your highly depreciated S-Class too. But is it worth it?

2007 Mercedes-Benz S600

A few weeks ago I looked at the W220 Mercedes-Benz S600 and explained that while it might be tempting to play with fire on one of these fickle V12 beasts, you are almost certainly setting yourself up to get burned sooner or later. Probably sooner. So naturally today, I wanted to check out the next-generation of the V12 S-Class, the W221 S600. Quality and materials-wise, these were a massive improvement over the W220 with almost-new everything and generally improved as much as they could. But notice I said ”almost-new everything” as there is one major thing that was carried over from the W220 S600: the M275 V12 engine. Is it still worth taking the plunge to get your twin-turbo V12 fix while enjoying a deep and supple message from the drivers seat? Surely, time and Mercedes engineers heal all, right?

2007 Mercedes-Benz CL550 Cabriolet

Some things never change. One of those things just happens to be people cutting the roof off Mercedes-Benz coupes and adding convertible tops. I’m not kidding. They did it with the C126, they did it with the C140 and they did it with the C215. Naturally, they did it with today’s car, a 2007 CL550, up for sale in Florida. Thankfully for everyone, Mercedes started doing it themselves with the 2015 S-Class convertible that looks amazing in my eyes. The biggest problem with these conversions is that they are clunky. Adding a convertible top to a car is no easy feat and those who do it as an afterthought always face an uphill battle. It’s one thing to make everything function smoothly and actually work, but it is a whole other challenge to make it look good. Most of the time when the top canvas is folded down, it creates an ungainly mass of metal and fabric sticking up behind the rear seats. This not only looks bad, but has horrible wind noise and causes visibility problems. Nevertheless, people still do it because people still buy them for whatever reason. As for this specific car? I have a no idea why anyone would ever consider it. Let me explain why.
