2018 Porsche 911 GT3

I just can’t get away from these cars. Between the GT3 and the GT3 RS I’ve been featuring newer Porsches more frequently than ever in the past. Now that the newest version of the GT3 RS has been around for a little while we’ve begun to see quite a few PTS examples come up for sale. Obviously, those grab our attention. The GT3, well, it’s just about perfect with a mixture of hard-core performance and usability that might just make it the best 911 you should buy.

For the past few years neither has been available with a manual transmission. That changes with the 2018 GT3 (the GT3 RS will remain PDK only) and I’ve been seeing a few basically new GT3s come up for sale. I’ve had my eye out for those in interesting colors and reasonable prices. Generally, when prices have been below $200K they’ve been snapped up pretty quickly; above $200K and they linger. Guess where this one is priced? You’re still paying a premium for the immediacy of having one now, just a lower premium, and it seems like $200K is where the figurative line has been drawn. Like we saw when the last GT3 RS debuted, patience will save you money, but who said patience is a virtue?

2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50

“Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”

Not only is that a great quote from The Godfather: Part III and even better quote from The Sopranos, it is what I said when I saw another version of the Mercedes-AMG GT. I’ve covered the GT S, the GT C Roadster, not one, but two GT Rs and I figured that would be it for a while. Then this came along. The GT C Roadster Edition 50. The Edition 50 is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of AMG which was founded in 1967. As you might have guessed it, AMG made 100 of these Edition 50 cars split evenly between roadsters and coupes, with a handful coming to the United States. Painted in either ‘Designo Graphite Grey Magno’ or ‘Designo Cashmere White Magno’, these special editions received black chrome highlights as well as some different colored wheels. No increase to performance or suspension, just some cool paint and some different badging. So I have to ask, is it worth the premium over a regular GT C Roadster?

2018 Porsche 911 GT3

The manual transmission is back!

Well, at least for the GT3. After a few years of criticism over its decision to make the GT3 and GT3 RS only available with PDK, Porsche has now had a rethink and decided letting buyers choose is a worthwhile endeavor. I’m not sure if the GT3 RS will follow suit. As the GT3’s even more track-focused sibling the GT3 RS may remain PDK only, but we shall see (the recently released GT2 RS only offers PDK). Still, having the manual back as an option on the GT3 certainly is nice to see.

Here we have one of the few currently on offer. I’ve only seen two others so for now choices are limited and both have sold pretty quickly. I don’t expect that to remain the case, but if you must have one now, then here you go: a Lava Orange 2018 Porsche 911 GT3, located in Florida, with 105 miles on it. Of course, there is a premium attached to getting a car like this immediately.

2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster

The last few weeks I checked out Mercedes newest supercar, the AMG GT R, in both green and black. Both are really excellent cars and Mercedes seems to be going all in with the AMG GT guise as a four-door version is rumored to be on the horizon. But what we have here today is one of those AMG GT variants, the AMG GT C Roadster. Just clear up all those letters, the GT C Roadster is the roadster version of the GT S coupe. That means this top-down cruiser can do 0-60 mph is a mere 3.6 seconds and top out at 196 mph if you are counting. Everything is great and all, but you are probably saying ”What is the point of this when Mercedes-AMG makes the SL63 and SL65?” Well, I guess options are always a good thing, right?

2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R

Green not your color? Well, if you are looking for something a little more sinister for a naturally sinister car, then maybe black can get it done. The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R has been a hit, probably even more so than people expected, and demand, along with prices, have reflected that. Rumor has it that production for the GT R would be limited to around 2,000 units, but of course those numbers can change if Mercedes feels the need. This GT R painted in Magnetite Black for sale in Florida actually comes in at one of the lowest prices I’ve seen a GT R for sale at and much cheaper than the green one I featured a few months ago. How much cheaper?
