2001 Audi A6 2.7T S-Line 6-speed

In the realm of overlooked Audis, the 2.7T A6 has to rank fairly high. It falls squarely off the radar of most enthusiasts, who focus on models like the S4, RS6 and S8 variants, or the V8 A6 and Allroad A6 variants. But ranking fairly high on the list of best sports sedans of the early 2000s list should be the 2.7T 6-speed – a S4 in a business suit. A few months bank I wrote up a A6 2.7T 6-Speed that reminded me of how great these cars are, yet how unappreciated they are by the general public. With a drivetrain capable of 300,000 miles plus, great tunability and a slick 6-speed gearbox, these are some of the last manual large sedans that Audi imported to these shores. 1995 BMW M3 Turbo

It’s always been a dream of mine to have a car that can do rolling burnouts at highway speeds. A recurring object of this desire is a big, insane Mercedes for the sheer madness, but making a monster M3 is always an entertaining proposition. As opposed to most modified E36s, the exterior of this M3 is almost completely, beautifully stock. It doesn’t even have a spoiler, which is an instant E36 mojo-killer. What it does have hiding behind the commuter-car exterior is an insane 606 horsepower at the rear wheels. That’s roughly 700 at the crank. Driving it will most certainly induce one kind of fear, while the maintenance and tuning will elicit another. But if you’re going to turbocharge an E36, this is exactly the way to do it.

White Christmas Sunday: 1991 Audi 200 20V Avant

Last week’s high-mile but pristine 200 20V Quattro Avant got a lot of attention, and deservedly so. It is a fantastic looking driver despite the high miles and was obviously well cared for. Today we have a car with significantly less miles but not as pristine as the Bamboo Metallic example. Will it be the car that makes your Christmas white though?

White Christmas Sunday: 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo

It’s been said more than a few times here; the Porsche 944 Turbo remains the performance bargain of 1980s German cars. Comfortable highway cruisers, solid build quality, great looks and the ability to rip your face off on boost personify the boosted and box-flared Wunderkind. If you want a collectable, right now the market is focused on the racing Turbo Cup and more potent Turbo S models, leaving the run of the mill 1986 and 1987 Turbos more affordable. They don’t come much more 80s spectacular than today’s triple white model; so will this Turbo boost your Holiday spirits and make it a White Christmas for you?

2000 Porsche Boxster S Turbo

If you’re at all like me, you look at a lot of internet car advertisements. One of my favorite subset hobbies is then looking for ridiculous claims within those ads – “Only one ever made”, “One of a kind”, “Fastest car in the world” – you know the gig. They’re always good for a chuckle and make you wonder just what the seller was thinking. Sometimes, though, those ads show a general lack of knowledge about the vehicle in question; for example, listing any BMW as having a “V6” or all older Audis as “quattro” models. So you can imagine my delight when I ran across today’s 2000 Boxster S – typical Ebay auction-house seller photos and no extensive description, but there in the title in bold letter all caps was “TURBO”. “Ha!”, I thought, “Gotcha!” as I scrolled down the page to confirm my suspicion that this seller knew little to nothing in comparison to my vast unassailable automotive knowledge. But halfway though the photos I came across an image of the the rear spoiler deployed with the words “Turbo Kraft” stenciled on. Hmm, still not proof of a turbo, just poor taste. It was a little further down that I was both disappointed to be wrong and excited to see the image of a shiny turbo sitting in the engine bay. So take a look at something you’re probably not familiar with – the turbocharged Boxster S:
