1994 Porsche 911 Speedster

I’ve featured the 911 Speedster quite a bit over the years. Enough so that these days they usually only catch my eye when there’s something pretty unique about them. While I like them a lot, and love the original 356 Speedster, there’s a degree to which they all blend together and are more or less the same: Black, White, or Red with very low miles and seemingly pristine condition. There’s little more to say than, “Here’s another 911 Speedster for sale.”

The version produced for the 964 is itself a little more unique. It’s narrow body reminds us much more of the original 356 compared with the Turbo-bodied 3.2 Carrera-based 911 Speedster. The color palette also appears to be more diverse, though that may be anecdotal rather than based on actual production. There are still plenty of Red, White, and Black.

This one shines through those colors like a beacon beckoning you to drive it. And driven it has been! Here we have a Speed Yellow 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster, located in St. Louis, with factory painted sport seats and 81,516 miles on it. 81K miles may not seem like much for a car that’s nearly 25 years old, but for the Speedster, a 911 always coveted by collectors, it’s a good chunk of mileage.

The one area where this Speedster does resemble those many others is that it still looks in very nice condition. It looks to have been treated with care even if it hasn’t spent its entire life locked away in a climate-controlled garage. The Speed Yellow paint shows great brightness and while I’m sure it isn’t perfect there don’t appear to be any major imperfections. The interior presents similarly. The carpets look clean and in good condition and the seats show only minor wear from use. The painted seat backs and gauge surround bring the Speed Yellow exterior into the interior and provide some contrast to all of that black. Black and yellow are a common combination and almost always show incredibly well together.

In addition to good condition, this Speedster sounds like it’s fully documented from new and recently has been treated to a fairly substantial servicing. We’re told the folding top is new, but otherwise it looks to have retained its originality (the radio appears to be non-original as well though the ad says the car comes with its original radio).

The biggest thing about this Speedster, the part that separates it from most of the others and which would make it a worthwhile option to pursue, obviously is the color. Whether you’re a collector looking for one in one of the more rare colors or simply a buyer with a particular desire for a bright yellow Speedster, this one should fulfill that wish. The price, like for any Speedster, is fairly high, but this one isn’t too far from what we might expect. If it’s the color you’re after, then I imagine you may have to act somewhat quickly.

This will be well bought at the asking price. Drive it sparingly for the next 10-20 years and watch it continue going up in value, as all speedsters have.
