2014 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

I know there is a massive yearning for the lightweight aircooled Porsche 911s, but given how Porsche had to deal with, the 991 generation turned out pretty good. It surely isn’t ugly or offensive in terms of styling, and the performance is always at the world standard in terms of how they manage so much performance out of a flat-six engine that fits behind a set of the rear seats. I don’t think there is single variant of the 991 that you couldn’t drive everyday if you were brave enough, granted there was no snow on the roads, and still be extremely comfortable doing it. Even the base model C2 examples, like the one we are looking at today, still brings strong performance terms of power and numbers. The thing I have to wonder is, how far will they fall in terms of price?

2014 Porsche 911 Carrera
20″ Carrera S Wheels, Automatically Dimming Interior & Exterior Mirrors, Bose Audio Package, Electric Glass Tilt & Slide Sunroof, Front & Rear Park Assist, Heated Front Seats, LED Headlights w/Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus, Online Service, Premium Package w/Power Sport Seats, Rear window defroster, SiriusXM Satellite Radio & HD Radio Receiver, Sport Seats Leather.

This is an interesting case study in that it is a base 2014 Carrera with the PDK gearbox and a massive 75,000 miles. I told you that you could daily drive these. It may look like it doesn’t have any real fancy options outside of the Guards Red paint, which was no cost to be fair, but it is packing ParkAssist, 14-way adjustable sport seats, the Premium Package, Porsche Dynamic Light System, and Bose audio. All of this led to a price of right around $100,000 – not cheap for a base 911. So where does this one with the massive mileage put it in terms of price?

The ask here is just over $66,000 – not a great deal at all considering what cars with half the miles sell for. Keep in mind this is at an official dealer at an extreme retail price, which has me shaking my head considering how terrible the photos of this car are. Maybe they are factoring in the Guards Red mark-up considering most of these cars were build in boring colors, but still…a mileage discount this is not.

This price is crazy. I like the base Carrera in the 997, 991.2 but the 991.1 base comes with a 3.4L engine. Same size as a Boxster S. Add to that PDK and you have a pretty boring 911. With the miles it should be a $40k 991 but in today’s market people are willing to pay insane prices for any 911.
