1951 Mercedes-Benz 170S

v1

The Mercedes-Benz W136 was a car that started production, took a little break for something called World War II, then started back up production and carried on its merry way. This 1951 170S for sale in California is a car that was on the post-war production side of things and surprisingly it still something you can drive everyday if you really wanted. (I do not recommend driving a W136 everyday.) Despite being a 1930s design, under the skin was a relatively modern design with independent suspension and a top speed that could hang with highway traffic — although firmly in the right lane.

1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL

While I may not write about them very often I actually love a vintage Mercedes. Many of the designs possess those timeless characteristics that make so many vintage automobiles desirable and perhaps none more so than the Pagoda. The SL has long showcased the sort of sleek lines and elegant styling that make people want to put the top down and be seen. Andrew has featured a few of these of late, but I hope our readers can allow for another (and I promise I haven’t just featured this one because there’s a 911 GT3 RS in the background). The one we see here, a Black 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL with Cognac interior, comes from the final year of their production and looks invitingly ready to be enjoyed.

1991 Mercedes-Benz 300SE

1The other day I wrote up a Euro-Spec 190E 2.3-16, noting that the seller must have good taste in cars since there was a W126 pictured in the background. It turns out that W126 is also for sale. It’s a 300SE. These are my favorite old Benzes. Imposing and timeless, these old S-classes still look beautiful today and remind you of an era when Mercedes built stately cars of bank-vault solidity. It’s a real treat to see one in mint condition, which is not that uncommon. Many of the original, wealthy owners have held on to these since new and maintained them at whatever cost necessary. Looking like it just rolled out of the factory, this appears to be such a car.

1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 Wagon with 3.6 AMG swap

36te1

I really enjoy a well done engine swap. Three months ago I featured a W113 Pagoda with a M104 3.2 inline-6 swap. Today’s car is another M104 swap but with a little more displacement and a lot more AMG. What started out as a nice W124 E320 wagon was transformed to a hybrid C36/500E/E320 borrowing various parts from both cars. It’s a unique build that I haven’t seen and sure is an improvement over what Mercedes offered from the factory. So let’s take a closer look at this uber W124 wagon for sale in Connecticut.

1989 Mercedes-Benz 250D Ambulance Body

am1

I run across some odd vehicles during my travels around the internet. Today is one of those vehicles. What I thought was a normal taxi cab spec W124 diesel turned out to be an ambulance — at least what used to be an ambulance. This 1989 250D underwent a conversion from Binz, a specialty company in Germany that has been converting Mercedes into limousines, ambulances, fire trucks, hearses and everything else for over 75 years. So lets take a look at this long W124 for sale in New Hampshire.
