Some days I really like yellow cars. Other days I do not. This might be one of those days I don’t like it. What we are looking at today is a 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo obviously finished in Speed Yellow, but to me it just feels a little too light. I looked at a 2004 GT2 last month that was also in finished in Speed Yellow, but comparing those two cars, they feel totally different to me. Maybe it is just the 996 vs 997 thing, but this Turbo just seems like a real let down to me when it comes to wowing me with the color. Your thoughts?

Color aside, this actually looks like a really nice one. Around $18,000 in options on this one, but something isn’t adding up with the brakes. The build sheet says this one was optioned with the $9,000 carbon ceramics, both those photos are showing the standard red calipers and steel brakes. Although, truth told that might be a win for some depending on your preference. The matching yellow seat backs I like, and you have your other typical stuff like Sport Chrono, a short shifter, and a thicker steering wheel. To wrap this one all up, it’s got just under 28,000. Exactly what you would expect from a 997 Turbo.
There’s no ‘Buy It Now’ on this one, so we’ll have to see where it plays out. It should be priced between $63,000 and $68,000, and any more would be paying too much. I don’t think there is any premium on this color despite it being a nice break from the typical black/grey/silver, but it certainly wouldn’t be at the top of my list if I were in the market for a 997 Turbo.

This car has a TON of stories. It sold for 66 on BAT last year. It was at Manheim Orlando with no takers for weeks.
The car is missing the ceramic brakes. The car spent time in the Dominican Republic. The DME read out showed 0 over revs even in rage two, which is basically impossible. The wing needs to be fixed, the bumper was replaced, who knows whats been repainted.
The selling dealer always has interesting cars, but too many of them are interesting because they have interesting stories attached to them like this one. Nice enough guys, you just have to know what you’re buying.
The current bid is TOP dollar for it as far as I am concerned.
@Howard S, interesting backstory. One wonders, even with the negatives of replacement costs on the ceramic brakes, why they’d have been removed and replaced far this side of replacement time. A question for sure.
To my eye, that color doesn’t look nearly as rich as Speed Yellow. Seems firmly in the ‘lemon’ camp, I too am no fan of yellows in general, but SY can occasionally catch my attention.
An interesting car for sure and some of its story yet to be told it seems.
Want to get your mind blown? This dealer currently has this car for sale on Autotrader for almost $90K. No thanks….
For only 27k miles, that engine bay looks pretty sad.
The more I look at this car and the more I learn about it the bigger POS it becomes.
Am I missing something here? This car is currently up to $70k on ebay. This seems like all the money in the world for a car with stories, an ugly shade of yellow, and tacky exterior colored interior bits.
Not likely the bids on eBay are legit.
The reason the carbon brakes are taken off is if the car is tracked.
