2002 Mercedes-Benz ML320

Hey there. My excitement sure peaked with I saw this 2002 Mercedes-Benz ML320 finished in its current shade of mint. I thought this was maybe a special order or a designo color given that this shade is no stranger on German cars. I personally love it because I think it is something different without being too garish or offensive as well as being a nice refresher (no pun intended) in the normal sea of earth tones. After all, I’ve seen factory crazier colors on cars, but sadly I was left disappointed on this one. You can probably guess why.

2000 Mercedes-Benz C280

The Mercedes-Benz W202 C-Class has very little notoriety outside of the C36 AMG and C43 AMG. Maybe I’m missing something, but there seems to be no desire for a 1994 C220. It doesn’t surprise me as the W202 was an interesting blend of the old school “the best or nothing” and the world entering the booming 1990s where the product line expanded rapidly and the bean counters starting have more say at the table. When you sit in and drive a W202, you do have some feeling of that classic Mercedes magic, but some of stuff you can clearly see they cheaped out on. Even compared to 190E, these felt a little more “plasticy,” but tried their best to still convince you they really went all out with the resources and development of the model. So now that the newest W202 is over 20-year-old, will these non-AMG cars ever have any of demand or collectability? Don’t bet on it.

2000 Mercedes-Benz SL320 Edition

I’ve seen some pretty odd and particular special editions over the years. Most of the time it is a cash grab by manufactures during the end of a generation to clear out stock and move aging units before a fresh new model comes. Other times its anniversary editions that make sense, but lots of times are clearly just mailing it in. Today, I have one of these strangest special editions I’ve ever seen.

This is the 2000 Mercedes-Benz SL320 Edition. Not Special Edition, not Anniversary Edition, just Edition. They literally just called it the “Edition.” Why? I have no idea. The even more bizarre thing is there was another special edition 2000 SL320 in the Mille Miglia edition. That car looks exactly the same as this one except for the badges. Someone help me here.

2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK320

Dumping a bunch of money into a car and having it be worth than what you spent is rarely a math problem that makes sense. Usually if the math does make sense, you have to spend tens of thousands of dollars, sometimes hundreds of thousands. With today’s car, that is not the case.

This is a 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK320. A seemingly forgettable car in terms of Mercedes coupes as it followed up the legendary W124 coupe and a long line of stately coupes prior to that. It was based on the W202 C-Class but had every intention of making you think it was an E-Class coupe. It was not. The build quality with a step backwards from the W124 with cheap materials and soft looks, but that didn’t matter to prospective buyers as it had a “fresh” look heading into 2000 and the lease deals were good. Then the car got old and everyone moved on. Today, they are pretty worthless in the Mercedes world outside of the very best CLK55 AMGs and it will probably stay that way. The seller of this CLK320 had a different feeling about that. Let me explain.

“1982” Mercedes-Benz G320

Do you want to get crushed? Because this is how you get crushed.

This Mercedes-Benz G320 offered up for sale in Utah is being advertised as a 1982 “Professional.” It is not a 1982, not even close. It is a 2001 made to look 1982. Why is that important? 2020 minus 2001 equals 19. Not 25, which is the required time that is needed to import foreign vehicles that weren’t originally sold in the US. It looks like they fitted W460 bumpers, mirrors, grille, taillights, and front fenders to masquerade as a 1982. This is very illegal. So much that if any government agencies who deal with imports find this truck, they’ll probably crush it. Please don’t do this.
