If you are going to all-in on bright green, prepare to go all in. The greens that Porsche offered up back in the 1960s and 1970s were not for the shy and judging by the today’s car, it’s still that way. This is a 2017 911 Carrera 4S in paint-to-sample Viper Green and there is certainly no mistaking it. I can see why they called it Viper Green, because in a never-ending sea of cars in earth tones, seeing a car painted this color is like getting bitten by a viper. Okay, maybe that was an extreme comparison, but you get where I am going with this. Judging by the mileage on this car, it seems like the first owner didn’t like to be seen in this one.

The base price on this one was a cool $110,300, but of course you had to sprinkle another $55,610 worth of options on it. Of course, the big one was the $6,950 for the Viper Green, plus a bunch of deviated stitching everywhere in red thread. To me, it feels a little too much “Christmas Tree-y”, but I could live with it. The car only has 3,796 miles, which is really low for a C4S given they usually are bought to be driven. The owner probably should have, seeing as they lost their butt on this one given the asking price.
This car was $155,910 new and now has an asking price of $125,000. Doing the math, that is roughly $8.15 a mile in depreciation not factoring in tax or any other of that fun stuff you have to pay. Not great. I understand no one is feeling bad for someone ordering a six-figure car and losing their shirt on it, but this is tough to sallow. Keep in mind this car is at a dealer, which means the original owner probably lost way more than the roughly $30,000 given the dealer has to make their vig on the sale. For me, I don’t think I could do Viper Green on a 991. Your thoughts?

This car is missing the PTS green air louvers.
not that green for me!…if I was going PTS, I would go for Aubergine or Oslo Blue for example…
I should love this, as I’m a fan of PTS greens, but I just don’t. To me, it would look way better with light colored wheels and removing the black graphics on the side.
If I was to get a PTS green, it would be Birch Green or Gelbgrun anyways…
I love greens but viper is more suited in my mind to the cayman or the 911 GT/RS cars. A less striking green would be great on a C4S DD – oak green metallic, BRG, or even one of the lighter shades like ice green metallic…….
in 2010 the Porsche dealer had a Viper green 911 that had all of the non-soft surfaces in the interior of the car done in Viper Green. The car sat in the dealer;s show room for a year.
Oslo blur is a nice color. My Boxster GTS is sapphire blue and I keep trying to convince Mary Jo that having only one Porsche is not happiness.
